History & Craftsmanship

On 19th-century Swedish farms, this board was used in the traditional preparation of cheese and quark. When the fresh curd was pressed into molds, it was placed on the sloping board. The raised edges caught the released liquid (the whey), which was then neatly drained away through the cut-out open spout at the front.

Th!is board has a beautiful, heavily weathered appearance and patina. The back is painted in the well-known Swedish Falu red shade.
