Antique Swedish Writing Box with Monogram -Dated 1814
This authentic Swedish writing box (skrivskrin) dates from the early 19th century and is inscribed on the front with the date 1814 alongside the owner's monogram "K.P.D.".
The slanted, sloping lid originally served as a portable writing surface and features a recessed wooden panel with a floral motif, framed by hand-painted trailing floral vines.
The color palette is quintessential Swedish folk art: a soft, weathered sage green on the exterior, paired with traditional Swedish red on the interior and along the trimmed edges.
Inside, the box retains its original fitted interior, featuring a main storage compartment for letters and documents, alongside an upper section designed for inkwells, quills, and writing implements. The box is handcrafted with classic dovetail joinery.
A truly rare and decorative collector's piece.
