French milk bouillotte / milk stew
Beautiful milk 'bouillotte' / milk pot from the famous French pottery region of Saint-Uze.
This specific model was called a bouillotte à lait (milk stove or milk boiler). It was used in the late 19th and early 20th centuries to keep milk warm (circa 1890-1920).
Characteristic features include the cylindrical, tapered shape, the loose lid, and the two small, characteristic "ears" (knob handles) on the side, to which a metal handle was originally often attached to hang the pot over the fire or stove.
