Blue Swedish oval bentwood box
Antique, traditional Swedish bentwood box in a beautiful deep Swedish blue color.
The year 1819 is painted on the lid, near the wrought iron handle. Wooden pins protrude from either side of the lid, allowing it to be firmly clamped to the base.
The box is made using the classic bentwood technique; the overlap is beautifully sewn shut with flexible spruce or birch roots. Unique features include the fine craftsmanship, the beautiful blue color, and the condition of the painting.
