Characteristic Swedish wooden writing chest from the early 19th century in the beautiful color Gustavian blue with a magnificent patina.
The feet are classic "ball feet" that give the chest an elegant appearance.
The chest is dated 1805 and was an essential personal possession at that time. People stored not only quill pens, inkwells, and paper in it, but also important family documents. The fact that it has a lock indicates that the security and privacy of correspondence were important even then. The lock is no longer functional; the key is missing.
