Antique Swedish Bell Strap with Three Brass Bells – c. 1900
An authentic antique Swedish horse harness bell strap (bjällerkrans / sleigh bell strap), dating to circa 1900.
This type of bell arch was traditionally fitted onto the horse collar or harness of a horse-drawn sleigh, warning oncoming traffic well in advance across quiet, snowy winter landscapes.
Crafted from thick, time-worn saddle leather, the arch carries three heavy, cast brass crotal bells that produce a full, clear, and resonant chime. On the underside, the bells are still secured in the authentic traditional manner using original leather wedges.
