Swedish Wire-Iron Candlestick (3-armed) – Mid-Century
A unique, three-arm wirework candelabra. This piece is a beautiful example of traditional Swedish wirecraft (trådslöjd / luffarslöjd), a folk craft that originated in the late 19th century and continued into the mid-20th century. This candelabra was presumably made in the 1950s.
The candelabra is entirely crafted by hand from galvanized metal wire. Notable features include decorative scrollwork, intricate wire-wrapping around the central stem, and playful hanging bells/charms suspended beneath each candle holder.
