18th-century Swedish Gustavian corner cabinet
Beautiful Swedish Gustavian corner cabinet from the late 18th to early 19th century (1780-1850).
The dentil moldings (the checkered pattern along the edges / cornice) are typical of the Swedish Gustavian style. On the edges and knobs, the paint layer has worn through naturally, allowing the warm, aged pine wood to show through subtly.
This corner cabinet is a single piece with a carved open middle section and finished in the original old off-white / light grey paint. The interior is painted in a beautiful Swedish green color. The contrast between the exterior and the interior is a beloved feature of antique Swedish cabinets.
A detail in the upper cabinet is that the top shelf has notches for hanging spoons.
The wood type is Swedish pine, which was the standard wood type at the time and was subsequently painted.
The cabinet is in very good condition; there is no woodworm or woodworm holes.
